I retired 3 years ago after a career in business publishing working mainly with American publishers launching international editions.

I am married with one son (deceased); we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary this year.

I first visited St Michael's Children's Home with Father John in May 2006 with a follow up visit in February 2007.

When Father John first visited St Michael’s seven years ago, he found that there wasn't  a basic administrative system in place; electricity and water were being cut-off regularly because the bills were not been paid. Now we have a small, dedicated staff who make sure that bills get paid on time, food is ready three times a day and that the children are educated, well cared for and loved.

I am dedicated to The Help Uganda Trust and I see my mission is to ensure that every child is fed, clothed, educated and loved.

My skill is to raise money from all sources and to build a secure and regular monthly income.

I am married with three girls one aged 19 who has a two year old son, and twins of 17.  I have worked for the last 11years as an account clerk in a shipping company who transport Fine Arts and Antiques by road and air.

I have had no direct experience in fund raising but am willing to assist in any such event in whatever way I can.

I became interested in this charity through Father John who used to be my family’s local priest and my parents were avid supporters. When my parents died my family and I were able to contribute to this charity in remembrance of them. Personally I think it is a wonderful, worthwhile project, looking after children that ,not only are less fortunate then us, but have no parents or family to help them. Being involved in this charity enables me to see the improvements made to the home and the well -being of the children.

No money is taken in administration costs and all monies raised are forwarded directly into the charity’s account which is monitered by Father John who visits the home on a regular basis.

My aim is for the children to have a brick built home in a secure environment but obviously this cannot be achieved without the kind donations from the public.

Andy Robertson Chairman

I work in the city during the day in the Treasury of a large UK bank. I am Chairman of St Erconwald's Parish Council and when Fr John arrived eight years we decided to adopt the Help Uganda Trust as our Parish Charity. We have been impressed by the hands on approach and how much can be done with so little. It is also fantastic to know that no deductions are made for administration or our transport (we pay for ourselves if we visit) or any other non essential items. What is raised goes directly to the children.

I have had the privilege of visiting the home several times and can assure you how genuinely grateful and appreciative the children are of our support. We make their lives better and they are happy

I like the fact that the home supports children from different backgrounds, faiths and communities. What they do have in common is a tragic background (War, Aids and Poverty) and a new sense of hope thanks to the work of the charity.

I am a lousy web designer but a better fund raiser and I commend the charity to you
